By our very nature, human beings are inquisitive. In fact, I would go so far as to say, it’s the reason for the success of the human race. From birth, we question almost everything we do in some way or another. How do I do this? How does that work? What will happen if I do this? Where can I find the answer to that?
Without releasing it, the computer has become an extension of our inquisitive nature, with search engines offering rafts of information on innumerable different subjects.
At the click of a button we can attain details that, hither to unknown, can be locked away in our minds & retrieved at a later time. Wiki’s make us knowledgeable, Google points us in the right direction, BBC keeps us up to date with current affairs – all at the click of a button.
Imagining a world without the internet, for many of us, would mean a world with less information. Information that we, as human beings, crave.
The internet has become one of the quickest sources of information (if not the quickest). Long may it continue.
