There is an interesting case in America at the moment, concerning Twitter followers. A company employee has left Phonedog and taken all his Twitter followers with him. It looks as though the company are now seeking damages, as they believe that he took the followers without their permission.

Get things right from the start?

We believe it is always important to give the client complete control over their own accounts, where possible, and actively encourage our clients to create their own social media accounts. That way, they will always have access to all their historical data.

Miromedia would advise any company looking to create any kind of online presence, that they own all relevant accounts before undertaking any activity in the company name. That way your data remains your data.
